Boston Blizzard 2K5
Okay, I've decided I'm joining the trends. I've been inspired in the last 24-hours by some very thought-provoking blogs of dear friends (thanks Nevs, Ulee, and MMG), so here I am. It's true. I'm here in Boston. Joy and I made it here to Tay Tay's amidst about thirty inches of snow. Taylor and I were hauling luggage down the road with slush and cold really getting more and more annoying by the minute. But alas, I love Boston. There's something about this city: classy yet unrefined, sophisticated yet seeking, young yet timeless. Really, it's just cool, but all of that sounded much more poetic. When we finally got to Taylor's fantastic apartment (7 Lothian Dr.) we sat around and chatted before we took off for dinner at Addis Red Sea, an amazing Ethiopian restaurant. Quite a unique experience, where you use only your fingers to eat. We even participated in "gursha," which is a tradition of feeding close friends and family. We don't do things like this in Shelby, Ohio is all I'm gonna say. Last night we played some Settlers of Katan, pretty much the greatest game on earth (I did win actually, making it even better), before settling in for our second big day in the city, which so far has consisted of riding on the T and enjoying the North End, which has the Little Italy I'm so wonderfully fond of. Tonight is gonna be big. Joy and I are going to this upscale restaurant called L'Espalier where we'll dine in an 18th Century restored townhouse and consume seven courses. Most dishes are beyond my pronouciation and the contents will likely be unknown while I'm eating them. Nonetheless, I'm pumped beyond description. You may wonder why, and I shall tell you...because afterwards, I'm going to propose! Yep, I'm gonna get married. Taylor is a huge part of the plan. After dinner we're going to go to the Boston Public Garden where there is a walking bridge over a pond. On some freshly fallen snow Tay is going to line the bridge with red roses and votive candles and there I'm going to ask Joy to be my bride. Needless to say, it's a big moment...
